La Betsy

La Betsy, is a failed opera singer who now has to work at the local community theater. She has terrible pitch, but because of her overbearing personality, no one has the courage to let her know. Now everyone is doomed to sit through her tonally challenged arias that last much longer than they did in rehearsal.
But you know, at the end of the night, when the performance is over, La Betsy goes home by herself. All of the other players, who understandably don't want to go out for a drink with La Betsy after the show, don't invite her out for a drink after the show. So La Betsy goes home, alone. Fixes a drink by herself, listens to that one CD that she was fortunate to have made of her singing that famous part in Aida. It's not a famous CD or even a good CD (by operatic standards), and it was made like 10 years ago when her future seemed so much brighter...
Of course, now if she knew that that would be her best, most shining moment, then she would have done things differently. Probably enjoyed the moment a little bit more, but all she's got now is a cat, a half drunk glass of wine and reruns of Sex and the City.
